Hats Off to Mommy
A lot of people think they have the best mother on earth, but I swear, I actually do! This week, my mom was honored as an Outstanding Mother of the Year at the Hats Off to Mothers Luncheon in Fort Worth. I was thrilled to see that those outside our family recognize how special my mom truly is. Mom, you are my role model...the prototype of the perfect mommy. Thank you for being the world's best listener, problem solver, therapist, concierge, baker, dessert eating partner, travel agent, shopping buddy, friend, Grammy, and so much more. I never grasped just how incredible you were until I became a mommy myself. I'll never hold a candle to you, but thank you for setting the best example. I love you with all my heart.
The Hats Off to Mothers Luncheon called for one of my all-time favorite excessories: a fabulous hat! My mom, who cringes at the mere thought of the spotlight, was the star of the day--BY FAR the best dressed woman with the most fabulous hat in the room. I got to play the role of the supportive daughter. I decided to keep the dress simple and let the hat, the bump, and the other accessories do the talking. In the third trimester of pregnancy, you can never go wrong with a simple, black dress. In fact, I'd recommend sticking to a solid, simple silhouette with bold accessories for just about any occasion once you hit the 30-week mark. Don't hold me to this rule, but it's definitely the safest bet for a bump-chic look. I can guarantee that this dress will be making at least 3 or 4 more appearances before the baby's debut in July. I promise to show how I switch up the excessories!
